As a freelance copywriter who happens to write for many real estate agents, I have a unique perspective on the process. I’m not a licensed real estate agent, but I’ve spent hours crafting content on everything from the value a real estate agent brings to a transaction to how to stage your home.
I think of it as “one foot in, one foot out.” I have some insights into what real estate agents want from their clients, but I’m not completely immersed in the industry. Hopefully my perspective and insights will be helpful.
Our Home Story
Thanks to relocation, my husband and I faced selling our house and purchasing a new one out-of-state. This will be our third real estate transaction, but this time with a toddler in tow. I’m also equipped with different background knowledge and experience.
This is the first time we’ll be buying and selling.
We bought our first home in 2007. If you’ve been in real estate long enough, you should be cringing. You know what happens next. Even though we paid $30,000 less than list price (yep!) we still ended up underwater on our mortgage.
When a new job opportunity came along, we decided to take it. Our renters fell in love with our place and we ended up with a short sale in 2011. It’s still our favorite home of all the places we’ve lived.
An unaffordable housing market and uncertain job future led us to rent for almost six years.
We moved again. This time it was more affordable to pay a mortgage than to rent. It was obvious to buy.
Here are are, three years later, poised to sell and buy at the top of the market.
